Malgorzata Zajac

This is a collection of work spanning the past decade, created in solitude and rooted in my imagination. These pieces mark the moment I chose art as my way of living—a space where I paint and draw for myself, free from outside expectations. The works reflect my personal world, untouched by trends or influences from other artists. They exist simply because I love making them. This is my invitation to step into that space.

July and the Saturn

This series of drawings emerged during 2022–2023, created instinctively and without intention. They unfolded like candid conversations with trusted friends—a raw, unfiltered response to the solitude I embraced amidst the intimate connections my work demands. These pieces are my way of reclaiming time, space.

The Power of Mexico

This series on unprimed canvas, created with mixed media, is rooted in my connection to Mexico—its energy, its vastness, and its sense of the infinite. These works are my response to a place that feels both unfamiliar and like home, a dialogue between my imagination and the mysticism of the land. The collection is still growing, with more pieces yet to be revealed.

Arcanum

2020-2022

Arcanum is a meditation on emergence and the ineffable. This series, conceived between 2020 and 2022, marks a deliberate oscillation between the vestiges of pure abstraction and the burgeoning of symbolic gestures. Fleeting forms and elusive figures surface, only to dissolve back into the primordial. The works do not seek resolution but instead exist in the tension of becoming—an alchemy of impulse and intuition, abstraction and allegory. Each piece resists categorization, inviting the viewer into a realm where the metaphysical is both revealed and concealed.

What’s Left of Bauhaus

2016

During my Erasmus exchange at Bauhaus University in Weimar, I experienced a transformative moment in my life as a painter. For the first time, I was able to fully immerse myself in painting, free from the pressures of work or responsibility. It was a turning point that solidified my commitment to art as a way of life. These works represent that pivotal time. Outside of my Bauhaus experience, my practice has been shaped by balancing artistic ambition with the demands of a full-time job. What life threw at me never defined me or limited my passion. This is art created with grit, late nights, and an unrelenting drive to make something that feels true. These paintings are a testament to what that moment meant to me—and to the determination that continues to guide my work today.

This is just a glimpse of my work—there are many pieces I’ve yet to share, and I’m always creating. Art is a constant in my life, and I can’t imagine ever stopping. If you have any questions or inquiries, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out via email or connect with me on Instagram. While painting remains at the heart of my practice, I’m currently exploring animation and collaborating with other artists on projects that extend beyond the canvas. My full-time job is tattooing, and as a studio owner, this is where my commercial work takes shape. Each part of my creative life feeds into the other, and I’m excited to continue pushing boundaries in everything I do.
